Fly Fishing Adventure

Last weekend my dad and I took a trip up into the mountains. We traveled about an hour and a half to a creek just outside of Wilkesboro. Once we finally arrived we were pleased to see that we more or less had the small section of the creek to ourselves. The water was flowing at pretty normal levels and was crystal clear. My dad went in down stream and I entered the creek just below the bridge. I was using a chenille streamer that I tied myself. The first thirty minutes or so of fishing was unsuccessful. I wasn't seeing any fish or getting any bites. I approached a overhanging tree and made a cast up stream just in front of the tree. I let my fly drift in the current and right before my fly reached the tree my line shot out. I set the hook and landed the fish. It was a 12 inch brook trout. We went on to catch about 12 trout that day before we decided to go hiking. It was an all around great day.
